One reason to blog:

Adding tags help me find what I am looking for later when I am searching by topic.

One reason to Podcast:

My students cannot stand silence. Podcasting is a way to give them something to listen to that they can learn from and to help them find success in their classes.

I think it has the same advantage as having student present work at the board: increased level of concern that comes with peer evaluation. Students often don't care what their teachers think, but they do care what their peers think.
