The picture I have up is from Portofino, Italy. We spent Christmas and New Years driving about Northern Italy last year. Portofino is a little town on a peninsula in the Italian Riviera up near Genoa. The picture is from the walkway of a lighthouse at the end of the peninsula looking back towards the Italian mainland coast. With Kadin along, we wanted a short hike with lots to see, and Portofino was great for that.
I see the resemblance to some pictures we've taken hiking in the Bay area though. Do you live near San Jose or San Francisco? We travel there often (at least when we are in the states) because many engineering conferences take place there and because we have several good friends working in the area.
I have taught sixth grade science for about seven years now. The first three years I taught at a Buddhist school in California, before I got my license and ventured into public education. We moved to SC in 2004 because my husband is an auditor, and after Arthur Anderson went under there was a glut of them in the bay area and decent paying jobs were hard to come by.
I have no kids, just four cats at home, a husband, two gerbils and a hamster in my classroom at school.
My dream is to be able to teach online so I can work in my pjs, and move somewhere like Maine or Vermont where there are wonderfully snowy winters.
